Automating Seller Tasks

Updated: Dec 29, 2020

As noted in the Seller's Journey, when selling directly on Facebook or Instagram, a seller can manage accounts, orders, reporting, and customer communications in Commerce Manager. Among these tasks, order management and financial reporting can be automated by building an API integration with Facebook's Commerce API.

This diagram illustrates these tasks and the data exchanged via a typical API integration.

Order and Payment

When an order is placed on your Facebook or Instagram shop, Facebook authorizes payment using a payment processor, and makes the order details available to the seller. The seller is then responsible for shipping the order and provides Facebook with shipping information. After the order is marked as shipped by the seller, Facebook captures the payment and pays out to the seller on a rolling schedule.

The following diagram describes this process.
